Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) Interrupts Electric Shocks.
Our premium quality DC to AC inverters are made for use in campervans, motorhomes and caravans and are fitted with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). A GFCI is a device that monitors the electrical current flowing through the inverter's AC output and automatically shuts off power if it detects an imbalance in the current, such as might occur if someone were receiving an electrical shock. This immediately interrupts the power and prevents electric shocks. (* Please note, It's not possible to ground a moving vehicle to earth (a physical wire connected to the ground) while its sitting on rubber tyres, the tyres insulate the vehicle from the ground.)
Overload Protection
Our inverters are designed to handle a certain amount of electrical load, and exceeding this load can cause damage to the inverter or create a hazard. To prevent this, inverters have built-in overload protection that shuts off power if the load exceeds the rated capacity.
Short Circuit Protection
Short circuits can cause electrical fires or other hazards. Our inverters have short circuit protection that quickly shuts off power in the event of a short circuit.
Overheating Protection
All inverters generate heat while operating, and excessive heat can damage the device or create a fire hazard. To prevent this, inverters have built-in temperature sensors that detect when the device is getting too hot and shut off power to prevent further heating.
Low Battery Shutdown
Inverters rely on the leisure vehicles battery power to operate. Draining the battery voltage too low can cause damage to the batteries or inverter. To prevent this, our inverters have a low battery shutdown feature that automatically shuts off power when the battery voltage drops below a certain threshold.
Extension Cables and Sockets
Adding a short extension cable plugged into the inverter is fine (wound fully out if cassette type) the inverter will still provide safety protection.
Inverter Noise and Cooling Fan Noise
Its normal for Inverters to make low and high frequency buzzing and screeching electrical noises when in use. This is due to harmonic distortion and magnetic fields when the voltage is being stepped up. Cooling fan noise may also be heard when the inverter is being used.
By incorporating these safety features, our inverters can protect against AC shock and other electrical hazards.
